OpenRoad, the largest auto dealership group in Vancouver, CA, was facing tough challenges, not only from fellow dealership competitors but also from the rising disruption of fast-growing online dealers.

To overcome the challenges, OpenRoad needs to offer a better competitive advantage by adapting quicker with scalable, measurable, efficient operations, and effective marketing. In other words, OpenRoad must be data-driven and agile.

Takalab, together with Mars, designed a blueprint that will help OpenRoad define the roadmap for their big data & digital transformation to become a data-driven & agile company that can tackle challenges ahead.

01 Problem

OpenRoad has been the largest automotive dealership group in British Columbia and aims to expand with an ambitious goal of becoming the top number 3 nationwide. Tough challenges ahead are expected in this highly competitive industry, not only from fellow dealership competitors but also from the rising disruption of fast-growing online dealers. To overcome the challenges ahead, OpenRoad needs to offer a better competitive advantage by adapting quicker with scalable, measurable, efficient operations, and effective marketing. 02 Approach

To help us identify and understand the problems, challenges faced by the company, and their key strengths, we conducted in-depth interviews with relevant stakeholders and extensive desk research, then extract & analyze the results.

03 Solution

The Blueprint contains several key initiatives proposed based on problem identification results, which could be an enhancement for the existing system or new development, and can be utilized as a map to understand where to go next if we want to achieve the desired goals.
